A trip to where Montana began brings our state's history alive for students.
The highlight of the unit on Montana was the field trip to Bannack State Park, one of the state's most historic and important ghost towns. Along the tour, students heard fascinating stories of vigilantes, gold strikes, and life in the late 1800s. We even did a little gold panning of our own!
On the way home, we took a detour for a dig at Crystal Park. Despite a few inches of snow and a chilly breeze, our intrepid students, staff and parents all dug up tiny crystal treasures.
